All individuals and groups are welcome - the only requirement is to say the following Irish blessing three times:
Health and long life to you.
A child every year to you.
And, if you can't go to heaven, may you at least die in Ireland.
Parade Alert: We need volunteers for Parade Security! Please contact Dan Riley at dcriley3@aol.com if you are interested in helping. A Parade volunteer meeting will be held March 12th at The Celtic Fox at 5:30pm.
Staging will be in the area from 1st and Kansas to 4th and Kansas and will begin at 10am. No one will be allowed in the staging area prior to 10am. Parade entrants entering the staging area prior to 10am may be ticjeted for obstructing traffic by the Topeka Police Department.
There will be no parking in the staging area for non-parade entries, so all entrants who will be gathering their groups need to plan accordingly. The parade will begin at high noon. All groups and individuals are welcome - no registration is required. GROUPS: Form before you come to the staging area so you can be assured to stay together.
Parade Rules
No political advertising—please use themes that are in keeping with the spirit ‘O’ the day.
No items of any kind can be thrown from vehicles or floats—any candy or beads must be distributed by walkers accompanying the vehicles/floats.
All vehicles must comply with all applicable laws and be operated by licensed drivers.
The Parade Committee reserves the right to refuse participation to any entrant that does not comply with these rules.
The Parade route will begin at 4th and Kansas, proceed south to 12th and Kansas, looping west to 12th and Jackson, looping north to 6th and Jackson, the dispersment area. Click here for a detailed map.
In it's 31st year in 2010, 49 ABC News Channel - KTKA is proud to sponsor this beloved Topeka event! Please note: the event will not be televised this year, however, KTKA hopes to televise it in future years. Please check this website following the event for photos and video.
Again, all parade entrants are strictly prohibited from throwing candy or any items from their floats, vehicles or horses. Walking entrants are welcome to throw candy to the public on the sidewalks, with care to make sure no one is entering the street in the path of the parade to retrieve the candy or items.
